Assel Aitkhozhina is an Associate Director in the Food and Agribusiness team at the EBRD. Ms. Aitkhozhina has over 15 years of experience of bringing finance and development together by structuring financial products with a strong sustainability angle for clients in the food and agribusiness sector in CEE, Central Asia, Ukraine and MENA regions. She has in-depth understanding of primary agriculture, agro-processing, food distribution and logistics, FMCG and retail, as well as soft commodity trading sector. In her work, Assel promotes integration of climate, environmental and social matters in clients’ investment decisions through introduction of climate governance programmes, focusing on decarbonisation of value-chains, nature-based solutions, circular economy, and sustainable farming practices. Ms. Aitkhozhina holds a BS in Economics from Kazakh State National University and an MIA in International Banking and Finance from Columbia University in New York.
