Viorel Ognean Ștefan
Lantmännen Unibake
With over 30 years of experience in sales, marketing, and strategy, Viorel Ognean has led operations for international brands such as Diageo, Coty, SC Johnson, and Gillette. He graduated from the Academy of Economic Studies in Chișinău and holds an MBA from the University of Sheffield.
Since 2017, he has been leading Lantmännen Unibake Romania, where he has overseen investments of over €100 million in a modern facility in Pantelimon, transforming it into a regional hub for bakery production. Under his leadership, the company has grown rapidly, with a portfolio of over 250 products, exports across Europe and the Middle East, and a team of more than 500 employees.
- The new facility spans over 25,000 sqm and includes four fully automated and digitally monitored production lines. Upon completion of the project, the company is expected to exceed €100 million in annual turnover and employ over 500 people.
- Sustainability at Lantmännen Unibake Romania: Viorel has promoted the dominant use of locally sourced raw materials (flour, oil, sugar), successfully implemented a heat recovery system reused in production processes, and installed photovoltaic panels on the roofs of production and storage buildings to generate electricity for self-consumption.
